Swenson Buick

Swenson Buick

As far as I can tell, this is an impound lot.

What this pristine 1963 Buick LeSabre was doing there though, I have no idea.

Damn the chain link, but I could not pass up this shot - the sunlight is like golden fire.

Boat Back Riv

The legendary "boat back" Buick Riviera.

Well, at least, that's what I called them.

This was a challenging time for Detroit. The federal government was now requiring things - seat belts, air pollution controls, energy-absorbing bumpers - and the Japanese were posing a real threat with small, fuel-efficient cars and the styling cues of the late fifties, early sixties was definitely wearing thin.

I found this one on a morning bike ride around the neighborhood.
